Full Pitchfork Music Festival 2008 Schedule with Set Times Announced

Saturday, June 28, 2008

EDIT:
See here for the new schedule, as it has changed a bit.

Pitchfork announced the set times for their 2008 Pitchfork Music Festival. Yay! However, they didn't offer a good visual display of the schedule, so I made one myself. :) Here's the full schedule! Get pumped!

The only bit of bad scheduling for my tastes is Sunday when M. Ward and The Dodos play pretty close together. :[ Not sure what I'll do there. Everything else looks wondrous.

New Obsession: Frightened Rabbit

Monday, June 16, 2008

Frightened Rabbit is. Frightened Rabbit is Scott, Billy, Grant, and Andy. Frightened Rabbit is Scottish! Frightened Rabbit is addictive. Frightened Rabbit wants your love.

Every fucking song on their 14-track 2008 album The Midnight Organ Fight is gold. Okay, some that stand out are "Good Arms VS Bad Arms," "Old Old Fashioned," "The Twist," "Heads Roll Off," "Backwards Walk," "Keep Yourself Warm," and "Poke." Oh wait, I just named half the album. Yeah, it's that good. All of the songs are about the lead singer, Scott Hutchison, and most of the songs are about breaking up from a relationship. Scott says, "It’s like shaking off a disease."

Here...take a listen!

Frightened Rabbit - Old Old Fashioned

Frightened Rabbit - The Twist

Frightened Rabbit - Heads Roll Off

Frightened Rabbit - Poke

Some nice linkies for you.

of Montreal's Skeletal Lamping is done!

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Kevin Barnes and co. have finished their upcoming LP, Skeletal Lamping, which is due to be released later this year. Barnes, in his Myspace blog post, describes the album as "enraging,joyous,discomforting,playful,lovely,unpleasant,freaky,mesmeric...something that came close to capturing the labyrinthine complexity of this human consciousness."

Yeah, I'm excited.

"i spend most of my time in a state of mild confusion and pensiveness. i imagine most people do too. this record is my attempt to bring all of my puzzling,contradicting,disturbing,humorous...fantasies,ruminations and observations to the surface, so that i can better dissect and understand their reason for being in my head. hence the title, Skeletal Lamping. Lamping is the name of a rather dreadful hunting technique where, hunters go into the forest at night, flood an area in light, then shoot,or capture, the animals as they panic and run from their hiding places.

this album is my attempt at doing this to my proverbial skeletons. i haven't yet decided if i should shoot or just capture them though."
