A fucking lovely and quite insightful interview with Dan Deacon: touring, his new albums Bromst and Bronst, Butt Stomach, his theatrical production of Jurassic Park, and more. Check it out.

Maps & Atlases! This Chicago band is releasing an EP on June 16th. You And Me And The Mountain is the title of the EP. Check out the new single by the same name at their MySpace. Here's a couple other songs of theirs. I saw them at the Metro with Smoosh and Tokyo Police Club. They were fantastic.

John Moen is Perhapst

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

"Former Elliott Smith/Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks drummer, John Moen, a current member of The Decemberists, used his time off from touring to make Perhapst’ s self-titled debut.

"Perhapst" is filled with quirky, catchy, hook-laden indie-pop, experimental folk-rock, and even some twang for flavor, all delivered with a smirk and a smile."

Listen to three songs over at his MySpace. I really enjoy them. :D

Death Cab Takes Over Stereogum for the Day

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

So Stereogum decided to let Death Cab for Cutie control the site for the day. :)

Here's a post by Chris Walla about The Hold Steady's new song "Sequestered in Memphis," off their Stay Positive LP.

And here's another one written by both Ben Gibbard and Chris Walla regarding a controversial comment by Gibbard, pertaining to Roger Waters/Dark Side of the Moon.

Also, check out the "Quit Your Day Job: Death Cab for Cutie." :)

Bon Iver - Lump Sum (studio video)

Thursday, May 8, 2008

This is a good idea of how Bon Iver sounds live, if you should have the desire to see him, which you should, because he is a lovely man.

Zachary Nussbaum - Corporate Fallout (video)

Monday, May 5, 2008

Last night, my friends performed at a performance hour at a dorm nearby. Here's one song, self-written, by my friend Zachary Nussbaum. It's called "Corporate Fallout." Check out his website Cement Bridge, where he has other videos and lots of songs for you to listen to. Here's an mp3 of the song with better sound quality.

Zachary Nussbaum - Corporate Fallout

Lyrics:

Ice forms across the window panes, distorting the dim light of morning flickering through the first train. An early commuter is watching the blur of landscape she's come to know. Her eyes trace the ground in the graph of quarterly growth projected for next year.

By the time she took her lunch break the staff room was empty; all that remained was leftover cake from someone's birthday. So she ate alone, stared at the wall and wondered, "If I disappeared would anybody remember that I was ever here?"

Riding home in the second car she celebrates a paycheck with a snack she bought from the corner store. Convincing herself that she's happy doesn't seem to work anymore. Her apartment door is broken off its hinges.

"Well, at least something's changed," was all she could think. "It's a different excuse for pouring that drink" She sat on the couch sorting through what was left, things even a thief felt were not worth the theft. And she started to cry.
